High-pressure injection moulding


High-pressure injection moulding is the most common technique used to process thermoplastics. This method involves melting plastic granules to form a liquid paste before injecting this into a tempered mould under high pressure.

Plastic components with weights from 250 g to 25 kg

As the plastic is injected under high pressure, considerable force is needed to keep the mould closed. In addition to this clamping force, injection volume is another factor that determines production capacity. HSV TMP has machines with a clamping force of between 300 and 4,000 tonnes and an injection volume of between 1 and 33 litres. This allows us to manufacture products with weights ranging from 250 g to 25 kg.

  • High-gloss finish
  • No further processing required

Common product wall thicknesses:

  • 2 to 4 mm

Points to consider with high-pressure injection moulding:

  • Important that all walls are of equal thickness
  • Risk of sinking (distortion) in the case of ribbed products
  • Deformation due to internal stresses
